It’s In The Practice

So far, I’ve written 19,000 words of my book that I plan on launching in 2025.

But I didn’t write them all today.
Nor this week.
Nor this month.

I committed to writing a minimum of 500 words a week, every week, in 2024.

I just finished my 27th week of writing and have stuck to that practice. Most weeks I write on a Sunday morning. A few weeks ago, I wrote it on a plane on a Friday. Today, it’s Saturday, I just finished writing.

Why am I continuing to see success with this?

I am making it super easy to achieve.

Instead of setting some unlofty goal of “writing every morning at 6 am”, I’m doing what fits my schedule.

By the end of the year, I’ll have well over 25,000 words. I’m pacing to about 35,000 currently so after edits, a 25,000-30,000 word book is a nice read. I’m not writing War & Peace.

If you make it simple to “show up” there’s a good chance you’ll make some headway.

As Steven Pressfield says, “It’s not the writing part that’s hard. What’s hard is sitting down to write.”

Make showing up easy and reap the rewards of consistent progress forward.
