Making The “Jump”

Today, I’m making the jump.
For years I told myself I needed a parachute first.
I was completely wrong.

This is a bittersweet post. One I’ve been dreaming about writing for a while.

Excitement. Nervousness. Anxiety. Enthusiasm. Focus. Freedom. Trepidation.

I feel all of it right now. My last 2 years at Granicus were transformational. So were the years before that at Brightly Software. But something kept pulling me in a different direction.

Over the past few years having had the chance to speak with countless Founders, I kept having the same thought.

These founders are building something from nothing. Hiring. Fundraising. Operating. And somewhere in between all of that they’re supposed to figure out how to sell too. With no training, no manager, no playbook.

I’ve spent 15 years doing the one thing they’re struggling with most. How could I not help?

Then there was my friend Doug. The perfect example of exactly that. 7 years ago he started a business with zero revenue and no idea how to sell. So when we’d catch up for coffee every few months, I found some of those conversations shifting into mini-coaching sessions.

Demo strategy. Running a great discovery call. How to uncover the real buyer pain. Those coffees were (and still are) one of the highlights on my calendar.

His business now has a couple dozen employees, significant revenue and is rapidly growing.

I’m not taking credit for that. Doug did the work. But watching him grow made something undeniable.

This is what I’m supposed to be doing.

It feels right.
The right time for me.
The right direction for my family.
The right pursuit for my next chapter.

The right time to help founders get the sales help they’ve been asking for.

Today, I’m shifting full-time into building my sales coaching business for early-stage founders and startups.

Because it’s time to take my 15 years of sales experience and help founders turn the most uncomfortable part of building a company into their biggest competitive advantage.

If any of this resonates, send me a note or connect on Linkedin are open. Whether that’s you, or someone in your network who could use it, let’s connect.

I’m so ready for this next chapter.

I hope you’ll be along for the ride.
