Episode 106 features Sara Miltenberger, Founder of Restore Media & Strategy and the Creator and Host of the Make Climate Cool Again Podcast. I met Sara while standing in line at the NextGen Summit in June of 2019 and it’s been cool to get to know her and her passion around the environment and sustainability and her mission to change the world for the better.
Sara is super passionate about building community and sustainability education. She worked for Tesla and then decided to start her own sustainability consulting business where she helps fashion and beauty brands redesign their packaging and their corporate strategy. She also has a podcast where she talks to environmental entrepreneurs and leaders about how they are making positive climate change.
Sara has lived in Australia, NYC, and California in pursuit of learning as much about the planet and sustainability business as she can.
Back in 2015 when I first began thinking of starting a podcast there were a lot of ideas in my head about what to do and how to go about it. After overthinking, making excuses, and ultimately failing at starting for two years, I finally took the leap and begun. Thus, the podcast name “Just Get Started” was born.
The reason, you might ask, as to why Just Get Started stuck with me is that I know there are a lot of people out there just like me. They have an idea and want to accomplish something bigger but for some reason, they have been pinned down by naysayers, fear of the unknown, and most of all, negative self-talk that buries your confidence and clouds your judgment. I want everyone to realize they have to take a different path than the norm to get more done then they have ever imagined. To do that, you must take the first step to overcome that fear and Just Get Started.
This won’t be a novel. This isn’t rocket science. There are a ton of great resources out there about monetizing podcasts, growing a following, and doing all sorts of crazy things with them. But, none of that matters until you start and I wanted to share one perspective on how you might go about it.
So, just like with what I struggled with, I wanted to give everyone some insight into what you might want to consider thinking about when beginning a podcast and some useful questions to ask yourself along the way. I’ll share a few tools I have used that have helped but in no way are the answer to every situation. A simple Google search would give you several options that may fit just as well and I’d encourage that. But don’t hamstring yourself with overthinking it. That’s what I did. Don’t make the mistake that you have to have everything figured out on Day 1 because you don’t.
This is not the end all be all guide to podcasting. I imagine, however, most people reading this are like me. They’ve listened to podcasts and enjoy the content and have always wanted to create their own but it seems like a ton of work and a lot of money that is needed to be spent to get started. I’m here to tell you that’s not the case at all and that you can create your own very quickly and with solid quality for minimal to no money.
You can do it BUT if you are going to do it then you have to give it everything. You have to commit to it. There are a lot of people that have started podcasts that do 6 episodes and quit. If you’re going to take the time to set this up and go through the motions then I suggest setting a minimum bar for yourself. Do at least 20 episodes and call it “Season One” or something like that. Then, sit and reassess and make sure this is something you want to commit to further. If you get past that, you’re golden!
I hope you enjoy some of my insight into podcasting and what I have learned through my experience of trial and error and figuring it out along the way. The views expressed in this ebook are my own and from over two years of being in the trenches and knocking out episodes almost weekly. After my short athletic career, I found myself at a crossroad. Actually, more like I found myself at a dead end. My whole life was dedicated to one thing, golf! I had a dream to play on the PGA Tour, teeing it up next to Tiger Woods, Sunday at the Masters. So, when that dream was not realized, I had to hit the restart button on my life.
After numerous failed business idea, including, attempts to start an online golf business, car dealership, online Shopify store, and an attempt to become an international real estate agent, I realized, I needed serious help!
So, I turned to my father Paul Morgan. Paul had his own business writing business plans and helping others start successful businesses. So, with my tail between my legs, I went to my father and asked for help. I actually started working with him and it was there I realized, I wasn’t the only one struggling to start a business. Others were trying to create their dream life, and others were failing. I was confused, I thought, “there had to be a missing link.”
So, I started on my journey of personal development. I read books, bought programs, listened to podcasts, all in an attempt to figure out the missing link. What were I and others doing wrong?
One day I came across, EOFIRE and my life literally changed in an instant. I thought, how genius it was to interview and learn from other successful people! If I could do that, I could ask all the questions I wanted to ask but couldn’t. Hence, the beginning of The Daily Grind Business Podcast.
But, that is just the start.
After about 200 interviews, I was hearing some common advice. Find mentors, “you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with”, ask for help, and create winning habits.
I kept hearing this voice, one step at a time, keep moving forward. I boiled it down to 1 THING, “PROGRESS”. The secret to happiness is to make progress every single day, no matter how small the step, as long as we continue to make progress, we can start to change our circumstance.
So, that became my mission, to help others make continual progress through the practice of daily behaviors.

Episode 86 takes a little twist from the normal course of action as I bring on a fellow Podcaster, Preslie Hirsch, to speak about her journey and her entrepreneurship endeavors with Coaching, Nutrition, Podcasting, and other things. However, we also do a jam session where we exchange questions and conversation around a variety of topics such as getting started, childhood, self-awareness, CrossFit, and a whole mess of other things.

Born and raised in Arizona, I’ve grown-up with a strong affection for the simplicity of nature’s beauty and zero tolerance for anything below 70 degrees. From my dad I get my cheerful countenance, athletic aspirations and inquisitiveness, and from my mom, work ethic, communication skills and drive to constantly improve both myself and the community around me.
As an active adolescent volleyball player turned competitive bodybuilder, I cultivated an interest in nutrition younger than most. After being diagnosed with an eating disorder and being plagued with chronic illness, coupled with learning more about exercise, wellness and physiology, I stumbled upon my true love of CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting.
These experiences gave me a opportunity to discover not only how food impacts performance and body composition, but overall quality of life. My time spent studyingjournalism and freelance writing lend itself to helping me easily convey concepts to those with no nutrition background.
My values are rooted in practicing gratitude and integrity, to always be kind and continuously learning, and live both passionately and balanced. I absolutely love helping people realize their health potential and reap its’ benefits. I believe my history and education lend me the opportunity to do just that, and I am very thankful for this platform.
Nate is a natural leader and a speaker who knows how to impact and reach an audience.
He is a best selling author with three books as well as an entrepreneur. He has built multiple successful businesses in the areas of Insurance and Real Estate. He recently fulfilled his long-time dream of selling his insurance agency to follow his dream of being a full-time coach.
Nate was a Lieutenant, serving our country in the United States Army. As a Platoon Leader during the Operation Iraqi Freedom, Nate was charged with the safety and leadership of 42 soldiers as they served our country in Kuwait.
Nate has a simple philosophy on life – “live you what you teach.” Nate sees what needs to be done and he does it. He pushes his teams to the max and he makes sure he’s always leading from the front by pushing himself one step beyond.
In his quest to expand his physical limits, Nate has completed Ironman AZ, Sealfit Kokoro 45, a 100 mile solo run and is currently training to complete GoRuck Selection in 2019. Most recently (April 2018) Nate was a member of a 6 man team (Wheels4Water.org) that rode their bicycles across American to raise awareness and over $300,000 in donations for a non-profit, Lifewater, to provide clean water and sanitary bathrooms for 11schools and help over 11,000 kids in Ethiopia

On this episode of the One Mic series I start the conversation around Sales especially as it relates to people who have never had to “sell” before. This idea was originated from a great conversation I had up at the Next Gen Summit in NYC this past weekend. A lot of Start-up Founders have many talents and skills but one of the challenges a lot have is actually understand sales and the sales process of pitching VC’s, selling their first clients, etc.

If you DREAM of traveling the world but don’t think you have what it takes, think again! You don’t have to be an epic hero to travel the globe. I’m much closer to being Clark Griswold than Odysseus. Don’t believe me? Once I managed to walk 40 minutes down the street before realizing my backpack was unzipped, and when I finally did I no longer owned a raincoat. Later that same day, I left my Firkenstocks ($5 “Birkenstocks”) behind in a different city. This brought my lost ‘n wandering soul count to five pairs of sandals in five months. Yeah…
Now that I’ve put my (probably bare) foot in my mouth, I hope I conveyed: if I can do this, anybody can.
Despite never ceasing to put the blonde in that blonde vagabond, I’ve been surviving and thriving alone, and on the road for over two years. I am chock-full of travel tips and have self-deprecating stories galore. That’s right, the laughs on me and I won’t even charge you my two cents… Oh I should probably mention, I like to pepper in puns to spice things up. On Episode 48 I sit down with a great guy and someone I’ve gotten to know well over the past year, Joshua Peach. Peach is a Corporate Evangelist at Dude Solutions and shares the great message of the company across the country with many events and speaking engagements. Additionally, Peach started a movement called Be Au Sm that is swiffering the nation and bringing a positive message that is much needed in our world today.
Twenty-seven years ago on my 16th birthday, my mother dropped me off at the local Shaw’s supermarket to apply for a job. I landed the job of bagger/carriage wrangler and quickly learned how important customer service is to an individual’s shopping experience. The smiles and services provided by the employees were just as, if not more, important than the items on the shelf or competitive pricing the store offered. At 17 years old I was named the Employee of the Month for three months in a row. Although there have been the expected bumps in the road that two plus decades of working brings, for the most part I have carried the idea that a positive attitude can change an entire day.
For the last fifteen years I have been a part of a dream team at Dude Solutions, Inc. I spent the first twelve years in sales, starting out as a client representative and eventually becoming a National Strategic Sales Leader. Three years ago my role transitioned and I became the first Corporate Evangelist at Dude Solutions. I have the pleasure of speaking to tens of thousands of people and the ability to attempt to make a positive impact on as many of those people as possible. Along with my speaking engagements for Dude Solutions, I am in the process of releasing a weekly podcast as well as a book titled “Be Au Sm: The Essential Elements to Kicking Ass”.
