Popular Culture

The pop culture phenomena that we become awestruck with were made up of people just like you and me.

From a mixture of environment, observation, imagination, twisted reality, hard work, and a touch of luck these creations came into being.

Think Harry Potter or Hamilton, Mickey Mouse or Marvel, Toy Story or Transformers.

Something being adopted as “mainstream” or “popular” was once scribbled and scrutinized by its various creators.

Nobody was going to like them and it wasn’t going to work.

Until it did.

We might not have the next Harry Potter written but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t put in the effort to make the attempt.

It doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to do the thing we want to do and keep iterating when we feel compelled.

We may not have the next pop culture creation but our thing will be a success to us and those we surround ourselves with.

That’s all that should matter and it should be the motivation we need to start.

Creative Time

Ideas aren’t just born out of creative sessions and “whiteboarding” but oftentimes come when the opposite happens.

When our mind is quiet, we can think. When we are free of common distractions, we can focus. When we block out the noise, we get a clearer picture.

It’s harder now than ever to find this time. So we have to plan it. We have to section out precious moments each day to corner ourselves.

Do it in the morning before others wake.
Do it before bed when our phone is put away.
Go for a walk at lunch.

We choose how we spend our time. If we feel stuck and are looking for inspiration then the answer might not be to try and do more. It might be to free ourselves and do less.

It might be wise to clear our minds and silence all the noise around us.

It might be the best idea we’ve had in a while.

About Kate:

Hi! I’m Kate Kordsmeier. I’m a writer, educator, creative entrepreneur. I live in Atlanta with my husband, Matt, our two kiddos, Jackson and Gemma, and our 3 fur babies, Scout, Boo, and Finch (yes, like the book!).

I left my flourishing freelance writing career (my byline has appeared in over 125 magazines) to start a holistic wellness blog, Root + Revel, which became a multi-six-figure business!

I now teach other heart-centered online entrepreneurs how to monetize their blog or online business with sustainable tactics – no burning out, no selling your soul – through my two courses The Six-Figure Blog Academy and 21 Days to Impact.

I am also the host of the Success with Soul podcast, and the group coaching program, the Success with Soul Incubator.

OVERCAST

PODCHASER

Episode 86 takes a little twist from the normal course of action as I bring on a fellow Podcaster, Preslie Hirsch, to speak about her journey and her entrepreneurship endeavors with Coaching, Nutrition, Podcasting, and other things. However, we also do a jam session where we exchange questions and conversation around a variety of topics such as getting started, childhood, self-awareness, CrossFit, and a whole mess of other things.

Hope you all enjoy this break from the norm and our wide-ranging conversation!

Find Preslie Online:

Website: https://www.heypresliecreative.com/

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/heypreslie/

About Preslie:

Born and raised in Arizona, I’ve grown-up with a strong affection for the simplicity of nature’s beauty and zero tolerance for anything below 70 degrees. From my dad I get my cheerful countenance, athletic aspirations and inquisitiveness, and from my mom, work ethic, communication skills and drive to constantly improve both myself and the community around me.

As an active adolescent volleyball player turned competitive bodybuilder, I cultivated an interest in nutrition younger than most. After being diagnosed with an eating disorder and being plagued with chronic illness, coupled with learning more about exercise, wellness and physiology, I stumbled upon my true love of CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting.

These experiences gave me a opportunity to discover not only how food impacts performance and body composition, but overall quality of life. My time spent studyingjournalism and freelance writing lend itself to helping me easily convey concepts to those with no nutrition background.

My values are rooted in practicing gratitude and integrity, to always be kind and continuously learning, and live both passionately and balancedI absolutely love helping people realize their health potential and reap its’ benefits. I believe my history and education lend me the opportunity to do just that, and I am very thankful for this platform.
