The people you think are ungettable are far closer than you think.

All it takes is reaching outside of your “comfort zone” and asking.

Seth Godin is one of my inspirations. I had him on my “Dream List” to talk to on the Just Get Started Podcast.

In my eyes, he was untouchable. He was busy. He had a million other people to deal with besides me.

But, in June 2020, I decided to throw out the story I was telling myself and ask a new question. “What if he said Yes?”

I decided to go for it. (See email screenshot)

The next day, like a kid on Christmas morning, I was overwhelmed when he returned my email and accepted the invite.

→ Moral of the story:

We have no idea what is going to happen, who is going to say yes, or what opportunities might come from the attempt.

What I do know, as the saying goes, “We miss 100% of the shots we don’t take.”

Swing the bat. Shoot the ball. Go for broke.

What’s the worst thing that happens?

The risk of rejection pales in comparison to the monumental opportunities that could happen if they accept.

→ Who’s going to send that cold outreach they’ve been meaning to send?

→ Make that call they’ve been meaning to make?
